Start by preparing all the ingredients because this recipe comes together very quickly.
Bring a large saucepan to a medium high heat, add oil, carrots, celery and onions. Sauté for 5-10 minutes or until the onions start turning translucent.
Add the Gypsy ham and continue sautéing until the ham and veggies start browning, about 5-10 minutes. Note: continue on a medium high heat, stirring regularly, as you want to get colour on the ingredients but you do not want to overcook them.
Add vegetable stock granules, white pepper, black pepper and salt. Stir and add the dry pasta, milk, water and cream. Reduce the heat to a low-medium heat and stir until the pasta has loosened up and isn't sticking to the base. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Note: If your pasta requires more liquid the add 1/4 cup of water at a time until the pasta is fully cooked or you've reached the desired consistency. Also, feel free to add another 1/2 cup pasta if you'd like. Just make sure to add an additional cup of water and increase the salt.
Once the pasta has cooked through, you can add the fresh basil to the pasta and stir or you can use it as a garnish once you've dished up. Enjoooy!
